After everything was said and done, we ended up staying at the B&B upon Mrs. Holmes’ insistence. She had tea with us and regaled me with stories of the Holmes children, and how she would figure out which child got into what type of mischief.
“The secret, ” she said, “is figuring out how much effort had been put into the jam theft. Sherlock always did try too hard, and Mycroft barely tried at all.”
It was a couple of more hours before Mrs. Holmes decided that she needed to get going – while they do own the bed and breakfast, she prefers staying at her flat and leaving the B&B operations to the housekeeper, Julia. Before she went, though, she made me promise to look after BOTH her boys.
I don’t know how she expects me to keep tabs on Mycroft, but I do know that I don’t want her to come after me when I fail to do what she asks.
That woman is more terrifying than I ever thought possible.
