Full disclosure: I have been addicted to Coca Cola since I was 4 years old. It’s something I cannot live without (although there’s a good chance that it’ll kill me someday. This poem is an ode to this addiction.
I feel your fizz dance across my cheek
misty prickling alive with sweet, dark, sugar
both cold and warm and bursting around my tongue –
you bring a frosted sizzle to my day,
a wakeful jolt into my belly,
a buzzing bolt charging into my brain.
